On October 20th I will be participating in the CHaD Hero to raise money for CHaD and show appreciation for the exceptional care my grandson Rowan received following his birth in April.  Rowan was born on 4/12/24 at DHMC and immediately treated by the amazing Intensive Care Nurses and brought to the ICN.  He was hypoxic at birth and treated for HIE (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy) - 72 hours of therapeutic hypothermia on a cooling blanket. He was kept at 92 degrees for 72 hours so his brain could heal. Rowan was also fighting PPHN (persistent pulmonary hypertension of a newborn) due to his difficulty breathing after birth. Rowan went through a lot in his first couple weeks of life including intubation, bilateral pneumothroaces, an EEG, x-rays, nitic oxide treatment, an MRI, IVs and blood draws, CPAP, oxygen, a feeding tube and more. It is because of CHaD and the amazing ICN staff at DHMC that Rowan is now a happy, healthy 4 month old!! Please consider joining Rowan's team or donation to this great cause.
