Stephen George - Prouty 2025 fundraising page
This July, I will be taking part in the 100-mile ride portion of The Prouty, a fundraising event that since 1982 has helped support the Dartmouth Cancer Center in Hanover, NH.
I'm riding as part of a team of Belmont Hill employees, dubbed "Bill's Bikers", in honor of our colleague and friend, Bill Mahoney, who passed away in August 2024 after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. Bill was the school's Director of Communications since 2006 - of note, he was an instrumental member of a team that rode the 2011 PMC Ride in memory of longtime Upper School Director Cliff Goodband. While it is deeply sad, it is also fitting that another group of Belmont Hill employees assembles to honor Bill Mahoney this way...with our wheels.
I'm also riding in memory of my mom, Ellie George, who lost her life to cancer in January 2020. She received wonderful care through the UNC Medical Center, and I deeply value the teams and institutions dedicated to improving our understanding and treatment of cancer.
I hope you will join me in supporting the Dartmouth Cancer Center. Perhaps you have been impacted by cancer yourself, have lost someone close to cancer, know someone who is undergoing treatment, or perhaps you have cherished loved ones in your life who have benefitted from cancer treatment and therapies. My goal is to make a substantial contribution towards supporting the work that will help the next generation win the battle against cancer. I am grateful for your support. Thank you!
