Biking In Honor of Bill Mahoney
This July, I will be biking 100 miles through the hills (mountains...eek!) of New Hampshire to take part in The Prouty, a fundraising event that, since 1982, has helped support the Dartmouth Cancer Center in Hanover, NH.
I'm riding as part of a team of Belmont Hill employees, dubbed "Bill's Bikers," in honor of our friend and colleague, Bill Mahoney, who passed away in August 2024 after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. Bill was the school's Director of Communications since 2006, and he was also an instrumental member of a team that rode the 2011 PMC Ride in memory of longtime Upper School Director Cliff Goodband--well before I got to Belmont Hill.
I'm also riding in memory of my grandmother, Jacqueline McCahill, and in support of those friends and students of mine who have been impacted--whether directly or through family members--by cancer in recent years.
I hope you will join me in supporting the Dartmouth Cancer Center. Perhaps you have been impacted by cancer yourself, have lost someone close to you to cancer, know someone who is undergoing treatment, or have cherished loved ones in your life who have benefited from cancer treatment and therapies. My goal is to make a substantial contribution towards supporting the work that will help the next generation win the battle against cancer. I am grateful for your support. Thank you!
A note about how The Prouty supports the Dartmouth Cancer Center:
All funds raised will help fund innovative researchers and clinicians who are dedicated to finding ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Prouty funds also provide meaningful patient and family support services that are otherwise unfunded—such as support groups, massage, art therapy programs, transportation and grocery assistance, and more.

I am registered for the Prouty in 2021.
