Another year has passed as I continue to defy cancer with the help of the great folks at the Dartmouth Cancer Center. I am thankful to have received excellent care and treatment at the Dartmouth Cancer Center and to continue there with maintenance care. 

Through the great staff at DCC I was introduced to CReW (Cancer Recovery Through Rowing). CReW is a program run by passionate (rowing) volunteer coaches for anyone who has or had cancer, that encourages staying fit through rowing on the water and on the land using rowing machines, all year long. This year, I will be participating in The Prouty Row on July 12th along with thousands of my fellow community members who will bike, walk, row, golf and more to raise money for Dartmouth Cancer Center.

The Prouty not only funds meaningful research but also patient and family support services that are otherwise unfunded and directly help DCC’s patients. New this year The Prouty has funded the establishment of a free food service that provides groceries for cancer patients and their families called Healing Harvest.

It is an honor for me to volunteer at Healing Harvest. I know first hand how important good nutrition is to cancer survivorship and how difficult it can be to get groceries and cook while going through cancer treatment. Not to mention the expense.
