Help educate the next generation of Oncologists
Welcome to Dartmouth Without Borders team page for the 2024 Prouty!
We're thrilled to be participating in this incredible event and raising funds for the future of oncology. My name is Dr. Victoria Forbes, a Hematologist/Oncologist at the University of Connecticut Health Center and a proud alumna of Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
I will be biking along with thousands of community members like you to raise money for our team. Cancer has no boundaries. It touches everyone, including the most important people in our lives. All of the funds we raise will go towards the education of tomorrow's oncologists here at home and across the globe.
Help us educate the next generation of Oncologists
As the director of UConn’s Global Oncology Program my mission is to ensure that cancer care is available to all, no matter where they live. The best way to achieve this mission is through oncologists. Therefore, I am committed to advancing and fostering Fellowship programs that address disparities and promote equitable healthcare practices on a global level.
Support the Global Oncology and Disparities of Care program
An understanding of disparities of care helps oncologists reduce the burden of cancer. Support the Global Oncology and Disparities of Care program, a free-of-charge virtual lecture series available to all learners. Through our program, learners engage in interactive sessions alongside peers and presenters from across the globe. We are ecstatic to have 157 learners in our 2024 program.
Sponsor Global Fellowships
Help sponsor Rwanda’s very first Oncologists in our inaugural Fellowship program. Donations will be used to sponsor Rwandan fellows to travel to the US as well as our own educators and Fellows from UConn and Dartmouth to travel to Rwanda. The bidirectional exchange of information is vital to advancing oncology globally.
Support the GI Rising Organization
We are working hard teaching Rwanda’s first GI Fellows. Help support GI Rising, a charitable organization dedicated to reducing the burden of gastrointestinal and liver disease in Rwanda by providing expertise, training, and resources.
Why Support Global Health?
Through my work abroad I witnessed how understanding cancer disparities globally makes better oncologists. I meet learners from all around the globe and have the opportunity to watch them grow. For example, I met Jovan through our program in Uganda - today we call him Doctor Jovan, the first doctor in his family. Our ongoing collaboration with learners like Jovan reaffirms the importance of our global oncology efforts.
