Volunteers are invaluable members of the CHaD HERO community! We can't host a successful, safe and fun event without them.
We do ask that all volunteers register online at CHaDHERO.org. If you are a recent returning volunteer, you may be prompted to log in with a user name and password prior to registering. If you are unsure of your log in, select "login" on the CHaD HERO homepage and then enter your email address that you would have registered for the HERO with under "Forgot Username or Password."
Volunteers give very generously of their time. While registration does create a fundraising page for each volunteer, they are not required to do any fundraising. Some volunteers have found fundraising to be a rewarding part of their CHaD HERO experience. In fact, our 2019 volunteers raised $68,000!
The safety of all CHaD HEROES, participants, spectators and volunteers alike, is our first priority. Course volunteers are required to be 18 or older. We ask that volunteers for all other opportunities be 16 or older.
Be prepared! Almost ALL of our volunteer opportunities are outside, and we've seen almost every kind of weather possible at the event. So, please dress appropriately for whatever Mother Nature throws at us. We will provide each volunteer with a volunteer hat to help identify you, and if needed for your assignment, we will provide any additional safety equipment.
Most volunteer shifts are 3-4 hours long, but we can certainly make additional assignments if you are interested in donating more of your time. Just let us know when you register!
Volunteer areas include helping at pre-event registration & bib pick-up, event set-up, course safety/traffic control (must be 18+), event day registration & bib pick-up, race amenities/start area, finish area, water stops, participant food area, KidZone, and more.
Please note: The system will only let you sign up for one participation type. If you are a participant who would also like to volunteer, please email email@example.com.
