2023 Prouty

Beam Team

This year, our Beam Team will be participating in The Prouty along with thousands of others who will dedicate some physical effort to raise money for the Dartmouth Cancer Center.

This will be the Beam Team’s 21st year in the Prouty. It started after my wife Christine’s father, Jay Taft, died from cancer and she wanted to do something significant in his memory to fight against cancer. The Prouty fit perfectly! We could work through our grief by raising money to support efforts to find cures for cancer.

Over the years of our participation in the Prouty, our Beam Team has grown, and along the way, we’ve had the poignant experience of dedicating our Prouty events to a few of our own teammates in their fights with cancer. Happily, we now have Beam Teamers who are survivors, but we also lost a good friend and teammate, Eric Gough, to that dreaded disease, and that hurts. This year, Christine and I lost our sister-in-law to cancer. She was the wife of Jay Taft, Christine’s brother, who is both a longtime Beam Team member and a Prouty volunteer. Therefore, with that hard, recent loss of a beautiful lady, we are dedicating this year’s Beam Team Prouty:

In Memory of Julie Bisbee

More than one third of all people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetimes. It’s a universal problem that touches everyone, including the most important people in our lives, like Eric and Julie and so many other. That’s why we have united as a Prouty team to fundraise for cutting-edge cancer research and crucial patient support services at the Cancer Center.

There are two ways you can help us support patients, doctors and caregivers in the fight against cancer:

  1. Join our Beam Team! Register today by clicking the ‘register’ button.

  1. Make a gift by clicking the ‘donate’ button to help us reach our goal. Or you can click an individual's name to donate to their personal fundraising efforts.

All funds raised will help fund innovative researchers and clinicians who are dedicated to finding ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Prouty funds also provide meaningful patient and family support services that would otherwise be unfunded—such as support groups, massage, art therapy programs, transportation and grocery assistance, and more.

Thank you for your support!
