This year, I will be participating in The Prouty along with thousands of my fellow community members who will bike, walk, row, golf and more to raise money for Dartmouth Cancer Center.  I will be walking in honor of my friend Sheila LaPlante and in memory of James Needham. Together, we will go all in to end cancer. 

More than one third of all people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetimes. (Source: National Cancer Institute) It’s a universal problem that touches everyone, including the most important people in our lives.

My late husband James Needham passed from complications of multiple myeloma 35 years ago in November. At that time, there was no remission from this cancer, and pain management was in its infancy. Today, there are treatment options for multiple myeloma that allow patients to live with the disease longer than ever before.

That’s why I joined The Prouty. All of the funds I raise go toward cutting-edge cancer research and crucial patient support services at the Cancer Center.
