In Memory of Josie Harper
Sadly, Josie died on June 16 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Josie has been a true champion of The Prouty for many years. A few weeks ago, Josie started writing her letter to her supporters in part writing:
“It is Prouty time again – July 13. Last year was a banner year for my fundraising. My goal was $80,000. Why? Because it was my 80th birthday. We surpassed that goal because of many of you.
My partner Michelle passed in 2012 from cancer, after she was diagnosed in 2005. Together we started our participation in the Prouty and continued until her passing. I have continued my participation in honor of her.
In 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. After 20 radiation treatments and a lumpectomy I have been clear. However, in 2021 I had quite a surprise! I was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. I have been in chemo since my diagnosis. I am going on #78….”
On behalf of the magnificent Josie Harper, I ask you to Honor Josie’s rich life with a gift in her memory to the 2024 Prouty, which she has been advocating for and supporting for many years. And remember, the Byrne Family has again offered to match dollar for dollar your gift, so please be as generous as you can.
I thank you on Josie’s behalf and on behalf of her family for considering a gift again this year to enable the Cancer Center to continue the essential work done there---research, patient care and support services of patients and families.
