The first year I rode the Prouty Ultimate--100 mile rides on 2 consecutive days-- to raise money for the Dartmouth Cancer Center, I was supporting a friend who worked at our family's former restaurant who had to retire early due to cancer.
Then, after a blood clot started a deeper health examination, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I completed my second Prouty Ultimate and went into surgery a week later.
The following year I completed my 3rd Ultimate as a Survivor.
In early 2025 during a follow-up scan for the prostate cancer, they discovered a separate liver cancer, both cancers are due to my time volunteering at the World Trade Center right after 9/11. Chemo did not let me ride the 2025 Prouty.
I'm training again for 2026 and feeling strong. Your generous support will help others like me to identify their cancers early and improve the treatments, as well as improve education to prevent cancer. Thank you so much for your help in fighting this scourge!
With Love and Gratitude,
Rob
