I have been doing the Prouty since I was 14. I've always loved the fanfare of the day; from the early mornings, to the challenging miles, to the joyous post-Prouty party, I've always looked forward to Proutying. Now, at 34, I get to see first hand what the Prouty means all year round. In July of last year, I began working at Dartmouth's Cancer Center in Oncology Infusion. I am absolutely astounded by what a massive impact the Prouty has throughout the cancer center and for all of the patients. I have seen:
* People able to access free, nutritious meals through Healing Harvest
* People able to access mental health services during treatment
* People able to have lunch while getting infusions
* People able to access supportive therapies and care while at the Cancer Center
* People touched, galvanized and inspired by the Prouty all year long.
I have worked at other oncology infusion centers that do not have any of these programs. These programs change people's lives. I feel so lucky to get to be a part of this team and can't wait for my first Prouty from a new perspective. So let's raise some money and celebrate together the big and small changes we are making for cancer patients.
