My son, Ren, and I joined the Dirty Project gravel ride to start our participation in the Prouty on June 14. This was a 83 mile ride with over 10,000 feet of elevation gain to raise money for Dartmouth Cancer Center. We are going to continue our Prouty adventure by doing the 100-mile bike ride on July 12. Cancer has impacted our family and friends more directly this year. Our participation in the Prouty events is one way we feel we can help fight back by raising money and doing an activity that we are both deeply passionate about.

All funds raised will help fund innovative researchers and clinicians who are dedicated to finding ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Prouty funds also provide meaningful patient and family support services that are otherwise unfunded—such as support groups, massage, art therapy programs, transportation and grocery assistance, and more.

The road can seem daunting at the bottom of a steep climb around Vermont and New Hampshire. I tell myself to just keep on pedaling and I will reach the top. That is what we need to do with cancer. Each of our contributions, small and large, help us reach the summit and beat cancer. We are stronger together.
