Everyday Alexander Technique
Instructor: Anne Shivas
What are we doing with ourselves? In this stressful time of uncertainty we will practice bringing a mindful attention to ourselves and to activity and explore finding an easier, more balanced presence in our everyday lives. We will use the essential concepts and procedures of the Alexander Technique to achieve deeper freedom in the body and reduce unconscious interference with our natural ease. While our interfering habits/habitual patterns have many origins we can learn to replace these with a more conscious use of ourselves (our psycho-physical totality) that promotes greater ease and less tension. Through this process of embodied awareness we begin to experience a greater sense of freedom to be ourselves. Participants will need a yoga mat and a kitchen chair.
