About our Programs:

Child Life Program
The Child Life Program offers services that are designed to meet the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children and adolescents while they are in the healthcare setting. Services include preparing children for medical experiences, distraction and support during health care encounters and procedures, and activities to promote growth and development.

Pediatric Mental Health Access Initiative
Cost of care, lack of access to providers, and an overall shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists make it incredibly difficult for families to access help for their children struggling with depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. To address this urgent need, the Pediatric Mental Health Access Initiative is expanding access to quality mental health services and education. The goal of this initiative is to ensure that as many children as possible throughout the region get the attention they need, when they need it.

CHaD Social Work Team
Social workers have long led the Dartmouth Children's care management team, but in July 2021 a specialized team was officially embedded specifically in Dartmouth Children's patient care. These social workers provide counseling, family services, discharge planning, and support for social welfare issues. The CHaD Social Work team works closely and collaboratively with nurses, doctors, the Child Life team, CHaD chaplains, and schools and independent resources in the patient's home community.

Child Advocacy and Protection Program (CAPP)
The Ken & Vickie French Child Advocacy and Protection Program is a multidisciplinary program that helps evaluate and manage child maltreatment, including consultations for physical abuse, sexual abuse and medical neglect. CAPP personnel work closely with protective services, law enforcement, schools, social agencies, and referring providers, and also provide ongoing medical education for providers and agencies.

Molly's Place
Molly's Place at the Family Center is located in the CHaD Outpatient Center in Lebanon, NH. It provides families with resources, education, information, and community connections in a respectful, culturally sensitive, and comfortable manner. This essential support was developed in direct response to requests and feedback from Dartmouth Children's families. Molly's Place also serves as a place for families and children to relax and unwind during both short visits to the hospital as well as during longer stays.
