The CHaD holds a special place in my heart.
When I was 17, I had a critical asthma attack that almost took my life. I was living in the Laconia area at the time, and the local hospital there, LRGH, did not have the capability to save me. I had to be lifted via helicopter to DHMC, where I was admitted to CHaD (Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth). Due to my critical condition, I spent almost a week in the hospital, with the first three days in the ICU. I was incredibly lucky that with the combination of amazing staff, knowledge, and medical technology, I was able to survive.
The CHaD is truly an amazing place and they help thousands of children every year. I am looking to give back to CHaD by doing the “CHAD Hero” 5k on October 9th. This would be my sixth year participating in the event.
I am seeking donations for the fundraiser. 100% of the money raised helps fund CHAD kids with critical services such as support when they are in pediatric intensive care and management of chronic illness, as well as patient and family support services so important to the well-being of kids and their futures.
Regardless of size, every donation matters, and I sincerely appreciate your support on behalf of CHaD. Here are some reasons I’m asking for your donation:
•CHaD serves 85,000 unique pediatric patients annually from across Northern New England
•No child is ever turned away due to financial or insurance circumstances
•The Child Life Program alone is able to serve 12,000 kids each year thanks, in part, to fundraising from the CHaD HERO
•It goes without saying that you probably know a child who has benefited from the fantastic care provided at CHaD
Thank you!
P.S. Please come to Hanover on October 9 and cheer me on!
