About the Game

2024 GAME INFORMATION

The annual East-West NH High School All-Star game features eighty of New Hampshire's best graduating football players who meet up to play and raise money for Dartmouth Health Children's and the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHaD).

Of equal importance to being on the field, players and coaches participate in the philanthropic mission of the game. They are educated about the cause for which they are competing, participate in activities that will enhance their knowledge of Dartmouth Health Children's and CHaD and each raise crucial funds to help kids and families in our region.

The game features two teams of 40+ players selected from nominations from head coaches during the fall. To be eligible for nomination, an athlete must compete for a New Hampshire high school football program recognized by the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA). Each NHIAA division is represented by at least one athlete, and each school may not have more than five athletes selected as All-Stars. The teams will be divided based on geographic location into an East squad and a West squad; Route 3 and I-93 will serve as the dividing line.

HISTORY OF THE GAME

The Dartmouth Health Children's NH East-West High School All-Star Football Game is an effort that began with inspiration from Manchester business leader Nick Vailas, who wanted to produce New Hampshire's first intrastate, high school football all-star game as a fundraising event for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock (CHaD).

The first game, powered by the Vailas' Bedford & Nashua Ambulatory Surgical Centers, made its debut on June 23, 2012, and has since raised over $2 million through the generosity and dedication of corporate sponsors, players, spirit team members, community leaders and steadfast committee members. Entering 2023, West leads the all-time series 7-3.

Playing for the kids at Dartmouth Health Children's

Children and families at Dartmouth Health Children's receive expert, compassionate care and benefit from the latest discoveries in child health research. Dartmouth Health Children's 12 locations offer access to 247 pediatric providers and 30 pediatric specialists. Dartmouth Health Children's provides care to 95,000 pediatric patients annually.

In order for the players and coaches to understand the cause for which they are competing, they will participate in activities that will enhance their knowledge of Dartmouth Health Children's.

• Players and coaches tour the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHaD) in Lebanon before the game.

• Games, crafts and other activities bring together the All-Stars and children for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

• Coaches and players gain a personal understanding of the meaning of the game though their interaction with coaches and volunteer organizers.
