New for 2024
The 43rd Prouty has so many exciting updates in store this year, read on to see what's new for The Prouty in 2024!
Prouty Mountain Bike! For the first time ever, we have a Mountain Bike route at The Prouty on Saturday, July 13. Enjoy 18 miles of fun climbs and thrilling downhills. Our Mountain Bike will start and finish at Richmond Middle School and our route is designed for intermediate riders. This event will be capped at 200 bikers with a staggered start (with 50 spots held for women until February 29th) this year as we pilot this new event. So register today!
50-Mile Route Cancelled: As you may be aware, a significant rock slide took place in February on Interstate I-91 in Fairlee, Vermont. In response, Vermont’s Agency of Transportation has closed the interstate to all southbound traffic between Exit 15 in Fairlee and Exit 16 in Bradford, and is detouring all southbound interstate traffic onto VT. Rte. 5 in Bradford, which, is a primary corridor for Prouty cyclists. The scope of this work will extend beyond July, and with over 8,000+ vehicles being diverted daily, it is simply unsafe to proceed with the 50-mile ride in this area. We hope to bring the 50-mile route back in 2025.
The Wooded Walks are Back! We're thrilled to be able to bring back our beloved walking routes this year! The work that closed Oak Hill for our Wooded Walks in 2023 is now complete. Learn more about the Wooded Walks and our Residential Walks here.
Prouty Survivor Tent: Be sure to stop by our Survivor Tent once you cross the finish line on Saturday, July 13th at Richmond Middle School. All cancer patients and survivors are encouraged to stop by the tent, pick up their yellow survivor hat, sign our 2024 Survivor frame, share a message of hope with fellow survivors, and connect with members of our Dartmouth Cancer Center Care Team. We look forward to celebrating all survivors this year on Prouty day!
Prouty Golf Date Change: Prouty Golf is moving to a new day and this year will be held on Saturday, June 15th at Eastman Golf Links! Additionally, to help golfers beat the heat we are moving the start time an hour earlier to a 10am tee off. Learn more about Prouty Golf here.
Ultimate Friday Finish Line & Reception: The Day 1 Ultimate riders will finish line on the Dartmouth campus at the Geisel School of Medicine instead of Richmond Middle School. After the ride, we will have an expanded lunch/reception, including a beer garden serving up ice cold brews. We invite you to hangout, relax, recover, and revel in your accomplishment along with your fellow Ultimates.
Ultimate Early Registration Discount: Ultimates who register for The Prouty by February 15 will receive 50% off their registration fee.? Use discount code “EARLYBIRD” and pay only $75 to register for The Prouty.? Note, this is in addition the fundraising minimums ($2,500 for Ultimates, $1750 for Ultimate Newbies).
Rowing SAG: The SAG stop (“stop and go” with water and snacks) will be hosted at Kendal River Front in 2024 instead of at the turnaround of the 15 mile route in Lyme. This will allow rowers of all levels to partake in this celebratory SAG stop.
Prouty Community Walk: St. J: This year’s Prouty Community Walk: St. J will take place on Saturday, June 15th at St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, VT! Learn more about the Prouty Community Walk: St. J here.
Cancer Precision Prevention Research: If we reach our $8 million Prouty fundraising goal, $1 million of Prouty funds will be allocated to advancing cancer precision prevention research. Precision cancer prevention research and innovation at Dartmouth Cancer Center is developing tools needed to map any individuals risk factors for cancer, and creating bold new strategies to reduce those risks – with a goal of stopping cancer before it starts.
